Haircuts for Hope

Care Package Event
2025

Hands of Hope Care Package Event

Earlier this year, in June, Hands of Hope hosted one of our biggest events yet: assembling and distributing 300 care packages for individuals experiencing homelessness in Surrey. Each package was filled with essentials, hygiene products, snacks, and handwritten notes—offering not just items, but care, dignity, and hope.

This event was made possible thanks to the incredible generosity of our sponsors and donors:

  • Ratio Structural Engineers Inc. – our lead sponsor, whose support was instrumental in making this event happen

  • Oak Avenue Neighbourhood Hub Society – providing a grant to support our initiative

  • Surrey Fire Fighters Charitable Society – contributing to strengthen our impact

  • Wellness Pharmacy – donating 200 hand sanitizers

  • Smile Plus Dentistry – donating 368 toothbrushes and toothpastes

  • BAK'D Cookies – donating 40 cookies for our volunteers

  •

We are so grateful for our volunteers, partners, and community members who came together to make this event a success. Together, we showed how small acts of kindness can create a ripple of hope throughout Surrey.

Haircuts for Hope
2025

Haircuts for Hope – Week 1

Our very first Haircuts for Hope event marked the beginning of something truly special. With the support of our community, we were able to provide 20 free haircuts to unhoused and vulnerable individuals in Surrey. A fresh haircut may seem small, but it carries a powerful sense of dignity, confidence, and hope — and that is exactly what we wanted to share with every person who came through our doors.

This event would not have been possible without the incredible generosity of our barbers, Baker Blends and Groom with the Devil (Davin), who volunteered their time, skill, and energy to ensure every client left with a smile. Their passion for using their craft to make a difference was inspiring to everyone present.

We are also deeply grateful to our dedicated volunteers, who welcomed guests, supported the barbers, and helped create an environment of warmth and kindness. From setting up to assisting throughout the event, their hard work was the foundation of this initiative’s success. Week one proved that when a community comes together with compassion, change truly begins.

Haircuts for Hope – Week 2

Building on the success of our first event, week two of Haircuts for Hope showed just how powerful collaboration can be. Once again, our volunteers stepped up to make sure the event ran smoothly, and this time we were joined by the talented students of Orane International College. Their participation added so much value — not only through the extra helping hands, but also through their eagerness to learn, serve, and give back to the community.

The combined efforts of our barbers, volunteers, and students allowed us to expand our reach and continue offering free haircuts to those in need. Every person who sat in a chair left not just with a haircut, but with the feeling that their community cares for them.

This event highlighted the importance of partnership and teamwork in addressing challenges like homelessness. Together with Orane International College, our barbers, and our volunteers, we created another safe space filled with respect, kindness, and connection. Week two reminded us that sustainable change comes from consistency — and we are excited to keep growing Haircuts for Hope in the weeks to come
